On September 15th and 16th in the ICC: Berlin Metropolis Conference Q BERLIN under the sign of the turning point
The Press and Information Office of the State of Berlin reports:
“The New Unknown – Navigating a turning point in time” – seldom have there been so many pressing questions for the present as this year. What consequences will the war in Ukraine have for the global peace order? How do we make society and democracy sustainable and resilient? What role do metropolises like Berlin play in overcoming global crises like the ones we are currently experiencing?
Mayors of international metropolises and top speakers from politics, business, science and culture will discuss this on September 15 and 16, 2022 at the Q BERLIN-Conference at the International Congress Center (ICC)Berlin. The host of the conference is Franziska Giffey, Governing Mayor of Berlin.
Franziska Giffey, Governing Mayor of Berlin: “We are in a time of simultaneous crises, all of which are having an impact on our city. Our international conference, the Q Berlin, deals with questions, but also with possible answers, that we have to ask and find in this new situation. That’s why it has the motto “The New Unknown – Navigating a turning point in time”. For me, that means responding with local solutions to global problems. I look forward to discussing this with guests from all over the world at Q Berlin.”
Burkhard Kieker, Q Berlin Director and visitBerlinchairman: “Q BERLIN is Berlin’s major metropolitan conference. THUS the German capital has an international conference where the issues of the time are discussed. It is intended to position our city more strongly in the international arena as a place of tolerance and open discourse.”
The three key themes of the English-language conference are:
- Transformation & Resilience – About crises as change agents
About the question of how crises can serve as a wake-up call and the resulting impetus for our future - Global cohesion and solidarity – through food, shelter and the economy
About globalization and its challenges, especially the role of cities in overcoming crises - Democracies in danger – About freedom of expression, propaganda & fake news
