To save some laying hens of the slaughterhouse, the company Chicken for all organize a sale Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Troarn (Calvados), between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m..
At most, these are 800 laying hens which are for sale. They result from organic farming in Mayenne. “After a year, for sanitary reasons because they have to clean their large enclosures, the breeders part with some of their hens,” explains Thomas Dano, the company’s manager.
To save them from the slaughterhouse, Chicken for all works with many breeders and buys their gallinaceae. “They are still at the age of laying eggs. They will lay another 3-4 years at a rate of 1000 eggs per hen”, specifies Thomas Dano.
150,000 saved from the slaughterhouse
To come and collect chickens on Thursday 8 September in Troarn, you must register (the location will be communicated after registration). “It’s important because we only take from the farm the number of hens that have been reserved,” explains Thomas Dano. For now, about fifty reservations have already been made.
The acquisition price of a hen is 7€. 35€ for 5 hens (+1 free) and 70€ for 10 hens (+2 free).
Created 5 years ago near Nantes, Poule pour tous was initially an association. “For 2 years, we have been a company”, specifies Thomas Dano. In five years, approximately 150,000 hens have been saved and distributed to individuals, mainly in the west of France.
