Good news for the next transfer window?
In the sights of UEFA for non-compliance with Financial Fair Play, the financial situation of Olympique de Marseille is not optimal. Risking heavy fines and even heavier penalties, the Marseille club will have to find some Fortunately for the Marseille club, this should happen quickly!
Pablo Longoria has always said: the good sporting situation of a club also depends on its good financial management. Shortly after he protested at a press conference against rumors sending Cristiano Ronaldo to OM, which appeared on social networks, the Marseille president learned that his club was in the sights of UEFA concerning a non-compliance with Financial Fair Play. A blow for the Marseille club which has been juggling for several seasons between its ambitions and its limited financial means. However, this summer again OM saw big. Thereby, no less than 12 recruits have settled down in Marseille.
Among these recruits, we find in particular Alexis Sanchez, Chancel Mbemba, Jordan Veretout, Éric Bailly or Jonathan Clauss. A nice transfer window in the direction of arrivals and a few departures, including those of Arkadiusz Milik, Jordan Amavi or even that of Kévin Strootman, who unfortunately did not greatly bail out the Marseille coffers. Fortunately for the club, it is a completely different event that should bring exceptional cash to the Olympians : the Champions League.
15M€ received at least!
Extremely lucrative, the biggest European competition allows the many clubs that participate in it to earn a nice jackpot every year. Thereby, each team qualified for the group stages of the competition receives €15.64 million. A nice amount that will therefore receive the Marseille club, to which can be added many bonuses. For example, each victory during these group stages will bring in an additional €2.8 million, while a draw is rewarded with a payout of €930,000. A defeat is, in turn, not remunerated. Furthermore, clubs qualified for the round of 16 will receive €9.6m eachwhile the quarter-finals will be paid up to €10.6 million.
The semi-finalists will receive €12.5m each, then €15.5m for the two finalists. Finally, the final winner will still be able to grab the modest sum of €4.5 million. In all, the winner of the competition will therefore receive almost €82.34 million, provided that they only know victories during the group stages. Even if it is hardly possible to see Olympique de Marseille take the trophy in the final this year, the club will still be able to thrive on a lot of cash which was to arrive in the Marseille coffers, and thus facilitated the club and Pablo Longoria.
