What are the circumstances of the tragedy?
Around 6:20 a.m., the police spotted the BMW driving at very high speed in downtown Toulouse. Its driver commits several offences. A police vehicle is signaled by light and sound indicators…
The prosecutor continues:
“The police noticed that the driver did not comply and continued on his way at high speed, ignoring the signs. They follow the vehicle at a distance of several hundred meters and, due to untimely acceleration, the vehicle is lost sight of several times by the police. They end up finding him arrested, when he has just caused the accident at 10, rue de Fronton”.
The driver has just hit five pedestrians after losing control of his vehicle.
Are the victims out of danger on Monday?
Five people, born between 1981 and 1988, were victims of the driver. One of the victims was unharmed, the four others were taken care of by the emergency services and hospitalized at the University Hospital of Purpan. Are they out of business this Monday evening?
“One of them is still hospitalized but out of danger, a second has multiple fractures and will be activated today. The other two still have their vital prognosis engaged, ”indicates the prosecutor on Monday evening.
What do we know about the driver?
Four people described themselves in the vehicle at the time of the tragedy. Three women aged 19, 20 and 21 and the 22-year-old driver.
Originally from Pyrénées-Atlantiques, he was driving at the time of the incident with a blood alcohol level of 0.56 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air. His vehicle was insured and the individual is not known to the police.
Placed in police custody, he was referred to the prosecution on Monday at the end of the day.
A judicial inquiry was opened “to refuse to comply with aggravated and involuntary injuries with ITT greater than 3 months, aggravated by the deliberate violation of one or more obligations of care and driving under the influence of an alcoholic state”.
