Filip Dimitrov: Bulgaria is doing the right thing, they are looking for gas outside of Russia ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Bulgaria
The topic of gas is difficult, but it is a fact that Russian interests in Bulgaria have always been strong, but this does not mean that we have served them. You see a Germany that is much more dependent on Russian gas than Bulgaria.
This was stated before the NOVA Constitutional Court and former Prime Minister of the country Filip Dimitrov (1991-1992).
According to him, Bulgaria has done the right thing by starting to look for sources of gas from other places other than Russia.
Any distancing from Russian influence is easier because it always ends up being bad for us in the last 150 years. Any attempts at permanent ties with Russia are extremely harmful, according to Dimitrov.
Regarding the idea of a presidential republic, the constitutionalist said that “many people are trying to solve the problems with the Constitution”. And he recalled that in order to change the format of government, a Great National Assembly is needed, which, according to him, will not happen.
Each government is dependent on the parliament in the French semi-presidential regime. That is, nothing will change the picture with this. The problem with us is the fragmentation of the parties and the unfitness of the parliament. When leaders don’t happen, they just don’t happen, he says.
Philip explained that the Bulgarian president, according to the Constitution, has the opportunity to strike a balance in critical moments for the country – a privilege that other heads of state in Europe do not have.
