Do you know how to eliminate the harmfulness of smoke from our lives?
Breathing clean air and living in the least harmful environment is very important for all of us. New and gentler alternatives are increasingly being approached in Slovakia as well. In the 21st century, the world is gradually being purified in areas where it was once common. Even classic cigarettes and smoking are no longer “in” as they used to be, when smoking was done in the interiors of cafes, restaurants or even in offices at the workplace. How adult Slovaks can get rid of pollutants from smoke without smoke through the interactive smoke-free laboratory Svet bez dymu on the square in front of the Euro during the National Day on September 8 from 12:00 to 19:00.
The great smoke-free revolution started by the initiative of the Philip Morris company continues. At the National Smoke Free Day festival, which will take place in Bratislava on September 8, 2022 there will be a traveling interactive laboratory called A world without smoke. In it, on the square in front of Eurovea from 12:00 to 19:00 hours adult visitors will learn about the risks associated with smoking and burning tobacco, facts about nicotine, the harmful effects of tobacco smoke and smoke-free solutions. In the Svet bez dymu laboratory, people over the age of 18 have the unique opportunity to experience an interactive conversation with the virtual popularizer of science – Professor Dohorel from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In the unique laboratory, you will also get to know the background of the 23rd year of research and development of smoke-free alternatives, in which the Philip Morris company invested over 8 million. Also, we exclude substances that have a negative impact on health from cigarettes, which is cigarette smoke, which forms top tobacco at a temperature of more than 600°C and contains more than 6,000 chemicals, dozens of carcinogens, toxic substances, dangerous and tar. Tar also gets into the air and very easily into the lungs of not only smokers, but also non-smokers and pets.
“We believe that every adult smoker has the right to access scientifically based information about smokeless alternatives, which are demonstrably better for health than traditional cigarettes. That’s why we currently present a broader presentation of scientific progress in this field with the Smoke Free World initiative. Jej tries to clearly explain to adult Slovak smokers the difference between burning and incineration, which means that the time has come for a better alternative. The most modern technologies of the 21st century provide us with this chance today, and I am glad that the visitor laboratory Svet bytu dymu will also have this opportunity at the National Smoke Free Day festival.“ says Andrea Gontkovičová, CEO of Philip Morris for the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
In front of the laboratory, you can admire the successful designer Boris Klimek with the title “The past with a view of the future”. Boris Klimek is a supporter of the philosophy of the World Without Smoke initiative, as he himself got out of the stinking grip of smoke years ago. “My designed object for the Smoke-free World initiative represents a kind of symbolic insight into the future and an archaeological discovery that presents the excavations of objects called ashtrays at that time. These objects are dated around the end of the 20th century. In any case, society has already undergone a significant change in lifestyle, and archaeologists of the time describe these containers as objects of the ancient past. An ordinary ashtray thus becomes a kind of ancient and no longer needed imprint of time, a symbol of changes, evolution and progress of mankind. This object and its symbolism is therefore an interest and a wish for ourselves: We live in the future, not in the past.” presented the main idea of the Boris Klimek installation.
The original laboratory developed in the Czech Republic uses the most modern technologies, such as digital x-rays and holographic boxes. The use of Motion Capture technology is particularly exceptional, thanks to which the character of Professor Dohorel himself comes to life. Actor Peter Gecík lends his voice and movement, while this technology is used to record the movements of his body and head, which are then transferred to a pre-created digital model. In the case of the World without smoke, the use of Motion Capture thus extends to the possibilities of a live conversation with a virtual character.
