Rouen: a young man of 19 dies drowned in the Seine while trying to recover a balloon
The morning on the banks of the Seine, in Rouen, ended in tragedy. The Seine-Maritime firefighters were alerted around 11:15 a.m., at the Guillaume-le-Conquérant bridge, when two men, possibly teenagers, were in difficulty in the Seine, report 76News.
When they arrived on site, the rescuers discovered that a 20-year-old young man had managed to get back on the bank on his own. A second young man aged 19, who was also in the river, is no longer visible on the surface of the water.
Stayed underwater for about 20 minutes
Quickly dispatched to the scene, about fifteen rescuers, including divers, will then find the second victim who was submerged. According to a judicial source, quoted by our colleagues from Actu, “this person did not know how to swim, she remained under water for about 20 minutes”.
Despite the long attempts to resuscitate the firefighters, helped by the Smur, the young man died shortly after, confirms West France. The other victim was evacuated to the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Rouen in a state of shock.
According to the first findings of the investigation, the two young men were trying to recover a balloon in the river when they found themselves in difficulty, also reports France Blue Normandy.
