A collision between a car and pedestrians took place Sunday morning in downtown Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). Eight people were injured, three of them seriously. The driver of the vehicle, who refused to comply, was taken into custody.
This Sunday morning, a vehicle collided with a group of pedestrians on Avenue de Fronton in Toulouse. Emergency services were called at 6:20 a.m. and the intervention started at 6:24 a.m.
According to information from the Haute-Garonne prefecture, the driver of the vehicle refused to submit to a police check. Just before losing control of his vehicle, he should have “committed multiple traffic violations“, indicates the prefecture.
Several people taken care of were transported to Toulouse hospitals. Three injured in “serious” condition are hospitalized at the CHU Purpan.
“5 injured in relative emergencywere transported to three other health establishments in the town: the Union clinic, the Ambroise Paré clinic and the Joseph Ducuing hospital.
The intervention ended at 8:15 am, specifies the SDIS 31. 25 firefighters from Haute-Garonne were mobilized during this rescue operation.
The driver of the vehicle was placed in police custody, announced the prefecture of Haute-Garonne this Sunday.
An investigation has been opened. It is designated to the public prosecutor who will have to determine the circumstances of the accident.
