AS Monaco remains master of the Derby of the Côte d’Azur
Thanks to a header from Breel Embolo in the second half, the Red and Whites represent the Allianz Riviera with the three points of the Côte d’Azur derby (1-0). They move up to tenth place.
At the end of a generally controlled encounter, AS Monaco won in Nice during the 103rd Côte d’Azur derby with the score of 1-0 thanks to a helmet shot from Breel Embolo. At the start of this 6th day, Philippe Clement decides to set up a 3-4-3, with in particular the tenure of Benoît Badiashile and Youssouf Fofana, who respectively celebrate their 100th match in Ligue 1 and their 100th match in all competitions confused with AS Monaco. Aleksandr Golovin or Krepin Diatta have found a starting place.
A padlocked start to the match
The beginning serves as an observation round between the two formations. It is indeed necessary to wait for the 12th minute of the match to see the first strike of the match. It is the work of Youcef Atal who forces Alexander Nübel to perform a parade in two stages.
The Monegasques, dressed in the Third jersey for the first time this season, react in stride but the distant attempt of Youssouf Fofana is countered by a defender (17th), then the perfect cross from Caio Henrique is saved in extremis by Dante in front Emboloe de Breel (20th).
Situations on both sides
The meeting is balanced and the two teams play blow for blow, since Nice creates an opportunity, less than ten minutes later by Nicolas Pépé. His shot at the entrance to the area did not worry Alex Nübel, however, who quietly grabbed the ball (29th).
The Monegasque reaction takes place 12 minutes later through Aleksandr Golovin. To the right of the surface, the Russian midfielder unfortunately opens his right foot too much and he sees his shot slipping to the left of Kasper Schmeichel’s goals (41st). The first period finally ends with a header from Dante, who lacks the power to worry about the Monegasque goalkeeper (45th).
Caio Henrique to serve, Breel Embolo to conclude
The second period returns to a higher pace and the offensive situations are linked on both sides. Aleksandr Golovin first hits the post (51st), then Krépin Diatta performs a festival on his right side before trying his luck, his shot going wide. Finally, on the Nice side, the new head of Dante forces Alex Nübel to make a good save on his line.
More dominant, Philippe Clément’s men were then denied a goal by Youssouf Fofana for an offside position (65th). It’s only a postponement since Breel Embolo, on a caviar by Caio Henrique, opens the score with a sublime head (69th). His second but in the colors of AS Monaco and the 20th assist for the Brazilian side!

AS Monaco master of the Allianz Riviera
United and present in the duels, the Monegasques proved to be imperial during the end of the match, not conceding any real chance. They could even have doubled the bet by Caio Henrique, who after a solitary raid, lacks power with his shot from the right.
Without consequence since AS Monaco won 1-0 at the Allianz Riviera and thus extended their unbeaten streak to six games (five wins, one draw) against the Nice club. This victory allows them to move up to tenth place before a new clash against Lyon next Sunday (8:45 p.m. at the Stade Louis-II). Before that, they will go to Belgrade for the first day of the Europa League. DAGHE GUYS!
