A driver refuses to comply and hits pedestrians, nine injured including four seriously
A 32-year-old motorist traveling at full speed refused to obey the police this Sunday morning shortly after 6 a.m., in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). In his flight, on the avenue de Fronton, he hit pedestrians and several people in front of a stationary vehicle, indicated the prefecture of Haute-Garonne. Nine people were injured in total.
Four injured were evacuated in a state of absolute emergency to the hospital. Two of them would have their vital prognosis engaged according to the prosecution. Four other people were injured and evacuated in a state of relative emergency. A slightly injured person also received treatment at the scene. 25 firefighters and SAMU vehicles were sent to the scene to take care of the victims.
Placed in custody
The driver driving a BMW hit two vehicles in total, which were stationary. The latter crossed several red lights and committed numerous traffic violations, added the prefecture. The 32-year-old man, who was alcoholic, was arrested and placed in deferred custody, then in a drunk tank. Toxicological analyzes will be carried out to determine if he had also consumed drugs. Four other people described themselves in his car.
An investigation has been opened by the Toulouse prosecutor’s office.
“It’s the thugs who kill and not the police”
“Refusing to comply is not a ‘simple’ minor offence”reacts Linda Kebbab, national delegate of the SGP Police FO Unit union, on Twitter. “Yet another refusal to comply which clearly demonstrates that it is the thugs who kill and not the police”says Matthieu Valet, spokesperson for the Independent Union of Police Commissioners (SICP). “The lives of innocent victims must come before those of thugs”.
If the
#police hadn’t intercepted this highway felon at
#Toulousehow many other victims would he have had?

“Police and justice must work together so that firm and appropriate penalties punish the perpetrators commensurate with their acts, commensurate with the suffering of the victims, but also in order to dissuade anyone from imitating or repeating it”claims the Alternative Police Nationale union in a press release, which at the same time congratulates the police officers for their “cold blood and their professionalism in this kind of situation, allowing the arrest of the author”.
