The launch of NASA’s new rocket to the Moon was canceled at the last moment. NASA failed to fix fuel leak issue
It’s a exceptional evening who is preparing for The City of Space of Toulouse. Initially scheduled for Monday, August 29, 2022, the takeoff of the rocket ” Artemis I » towards the Moon was eventually postponed to this Saturday, September 3, 2022 due to technical issues.
Only a weather described could be transmitted in question this event programmed by NASA. Some doubts remain on this subject, but the take-off is not threatened for the time being.
Live broadcast of La Cité de l’Espace
For the occasion, La Cité de l’Espace invites you to follow the event live, from 7:30 p.m., at the heart of the Carré de l’actu exhibition and in the reception hall. The new take-off attempt is scheduled for 8:17 p.m. (French time).
As a reminder, “Artemis I” is a manned flight which makes it possible to ensure the operation of the capsule of the device within the framework of a round trip Earth-Moon. In 2024, “Artemis II” plans to send four astronauts around the Moon.
A historic moment
To experience this historic moment, the teams of La Cité de l’Espace will be on the alert and will comment on this take-off in the company of space experts:
• Philippe Perrin – ESA Astronaut – European Space Agency;
• Didier Schmitt – Director of Human and Robotic Exploration Strategy at ESA;
• Didier Radola – former Orion Program Director for Airbus Defense – Airbus Space;
• Rémi Canton Manned Flight Expert at CNES.
“53 years after man’s first steps on the moon, NASA is about to take a decisive step forward with the launch of the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket. The long-term goal? The return of astronauts to the Moon”, explains the Toulouse establishment.
“The life-size Apollo Lunar Module in the gardens of the Cité de l’Espace and the animation “Eagle has landed” also allow the public to experience the Apollo 11 mission carried out by NASA 53 years ago. Visitors could also admire the Moon Stone returned by the Apollo 15 mission in August 1971, designated by NASA at the Cité de l’espace. »
