Super League – Toulouse Olympique bows out at the end of the match in St Helens – Rugby League
Toulouse Olympique ended its Super League season on the lawn of St Helens.
Disastrous start to the match for the English who miss the face-off and offer ammunition to Toulouse. Ilias Bergal took advantage and scored the first try of the match. TO XIII then made a mistake and Joe Batchelor scored for the Saints, 6-4 for the locals. After long minutes without points, Curtis Sironen increases the advantage of the English, 12-4.
But just before the break, the TO came back thanks to their Australian hooker, Nathan Peats and as Chris Hankison set the sights, the score was 12-10 at halftime.
Toulouse passes in front then cracks
As soon as the second period resumed, it was another TO hooker who stood out, Éloi Pélissier allowed Toulouse Olympique to take the lead in this match, 12-16. But it’s the beginning of the end for Toulouse. Matty Lees scores in force and allows the English to go back in front with 20 minutes to play.
Konrad Hurrell, Tommy Makinson and Jack Welsby then each take turns trying in the last 15 minutes to give the Saints a comfortable success but Toulouse will have tied for an hour. St Helens finally won 36-16 against TO.
