A burnt smell is never pleasant. So imagine when it invades the metro train early in the morning… That’s what happened on Thursday 1uh September 2022, back to school day, at the station of the rose gardenon the line A from the metro Toulouse.
A smell that stings the nose
The scents intrigued users of the underground network of the Pink City. “It’s often the case around here…”, points out one of them. But then, how to explain this smell so unpleasant that it stings the nose?
Contacted by Toulouse news, Tisseo explains that this burnt smell is linked to the subway braking power.
“Since the passage in 52m of the line A metro stations, the trains have gone from two to four cars which increases the load of the train and therefore the braking power. This braking power sometimes generates friction giving off an odor This friction can occur when the train is loaded.”
The public transport authority of the Toulouse conurbation ensures that these fumes do not present no risk for passengers and for the operation of the metro.
