MotoGP | GP San Marino 2022, summary of the FP3 | P300.it
Ducati still dominates with three Desmosedici in the first three, Miller first in FP3 over Bagnaia and Bastianini. Quartararo fifth, times canceled for Martín and Bezzecchi who will make Q1.
Despite the presence of several threatening clouds over Misano, the MotoGP riders did not spare themselves during FP3 to get the best position in view of qualifying for the San Marino 2022 GP, in order to save themselves from the trap of Q1 a priori.
MotoGP
The MotoGP FP3 went smoothly due to the weather, except for a few drops of rain that fell at T4 in the middle of the common time attack. But even that didn’t stop the Ducati riders from dominating the third free practice, with Jack Miller first in the session and in the final combination in 1: 31.296, ahead of teammate Francesco Bagnaia.
Despite the penalty remedied yesterday, the Turin rider remains a favorite in dry conditions. More than Miller, who could play as a team as in the past, it could be Enea Bastianini, who is less incisive today than yesterday but still third in the combination.
In fourth place we find Maverick Viñales, another candidate for a podium in the race. Compared to yesterday, the Figueres rider seems to have solved, at least in part, his drawback problems under braking and finished 0 ”3 behind Miller, ahead of Fabio Quartararo. Aleix Espargaró, on the other hand, is giving way to his teammate and to the leader of the standings, in a weekend that should instead be favorable to him; # 41 is eighth in the combination.
Speaking of Quartararo instead, this time the Franco-Sicilian could enjoy some help from his teammate Franco Morbidelli. Repeating the strategy already put in place yesterday, “Morbido” followed the lead of his teammate during his fastest lap and managed to finish in ninth place (taking advantage of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martín’s lap times); it was since the Indonesian Grand Prix that Morbidelli has not entered directly into Q2.
Benefiting from the misfortunes of Martín and Bezzecchi was one of the drivers who caused one of the crucial yellow flags for the cancellation of the various time trials. This is Miguel Oliveira, who therefore climbs to tenth place and will be able to play Q2 directly. Ahead of him and Morbidelli, the top ten was completed by Álex Rins and Johann Zarco.
Moto2
The middle class session was the most daring of the three, given the many crashes seen in FP3, some also of some of the top protagonists of the series. The record went to an impeccable Alonso López in 1: 36.107, increasingly present in the leading positions during each Grand Prix.
GasGas Aspar by Jorge Martínez, who places Jake Dixon in second position and Albert Arenas in excellent fourth, while in the middle we find Arón Canet. Fifth and sixth place for the two former leaders of the world Celestino Vietti and Augusto Fernández, the latter who fell at Misano 1. Same fate also for Ai Ogura, who ended up on the ground in the very first minutes but still 13th, valid placement for access to the second quarter.
Moto3
The day of testing began in the name of Moto3, but the light class, during the last minutes, gave the worst of itself showing the usual limits of the category and the behavior of the riders, all grouped together waiting for a wake or a useful hook .
In the end, Izan Guevara emerged from the confusion, the fastest in 1: 41.459. The Spaniard preceded Stefano Nepa and the winner of the last Grand Prix Ayumu Sasaki, while his fellow-rival Sergio García finished only 12th, managing however to avoid the risk of participation in Q1. Dennis Foggia, after dominating on Friday, was placed ninth instead, but without yesterday improving his own time trial by (only six riders failed to do so, including García and Suzuki).
Here I am results of the MotoGP round, theanalyses of the runs performed by the pilots and the combined the final. Moto3 qualifying will begin shortly.
