FPF: Monaco (a little) sanctioned
European Cup, we tend to forget, is synonymous with financial fair play. Despite a financial policeman, in France, the DNCG, Monaco and other French clubs are concerned.
Vadim said it, Oleg said it and Paul too, it had to happen. This season, eight clubs are concerned, including three French ones: Paris, Marseilles and Monaco, the three largest budgets in Ligue 1, Lyon excluded. The other five teams are AC Milan, Besiktas, Juventus, AS Roma and Inter.
The reason ? UN cumulative deficit of 30ME over three seasons. Despite the health crisis, the Mediapro affair and a significantly higher level of contributions in France, French clubs are in the same boat and therefore “logically” sanctioned.
OM, already targeted by UEFA, and Monaco receive a fine of €2 million including €1.7 million suspended. Leaders have three years to rebuild their financial health or face stiffer penalties; the ultimate being exclusion from the European scene. There may also be a reduction in the number of possible player registrations in List A.
Nothing serious, for the moment, concerning the main team. Especially if we consider the Parisian sanctions: 65 million fines including 55 million euros suspended. Add to that that if we are worried about the FPF, it is because the Red & White are European.
