Commemorative dances on Sunday for the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Disaster
The event will take place on Sunday at 19:00 at the statue of Alexander the Great as part of the anniversary activities for the Asia Minor Disaster.
“Unforgotten homelands – memory dances” is the title of the event organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Deputy Mayor of Intermunicipal Cooperation and Hellenism Abroad and the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Thessaloniki as part of the anniversary activities for the 100 years since the Asia Minor Disaster.
On Sunday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m., at the statue of Alexander the Great, traditional dance groups and choirs, accompanied by a traditional orchestra, from refugee associations of Thessaloniki and the wider region that participated in the great music and dance event organized by the municipality of Thessaloniki. The event will travel the audience to the forgotten homelands with dances and songs from Eastern Thrace, Constantinople, Propontis, the coasts of Asia Minor, Eritrea, Smyrna, Cappadocia and Pontus.
