Toulouse: a young pickpocket caught with €1,200 in the metro
Spotted thanks to video surveillance, an individual who picked the pockets of travelers was arrested Thursday in Toulouse. In his pockets 1200 €.
On the Toulouse metro network, surveillance officers know it: ticket machines are favorable places for pickpockets and other pickpockets looking for any good opportunity.
And late Thursday afternoon, Tiséo agents assigned to video surveillance spotted a young man at the Capitole station. This boy seemed very interested in travelers, preferably older, who used their bank cards to buy tickets.
The police officers of the departmental public transport surveillance unit were alerted and these specialists found the suspect at the Jolimont station. Identity verification revealed a bank card not in the name of its new “owner” and €1,200 in cash.
The suspect did try to explain that it was his savings, but while in police custody, this boy, who would be 13 years old – checks are in progress on the reality of his identity – finally admitted the theft and cash withdrawal. Investigations are continuing this Friday, according to investigators from the Right Bank Judicial Support Group.
