suspected arsonist charged
On August 19, 2022, 18 coaches were destroyed by fire in Labarthe-sur-Lèze, near Toulouse. Two weeks later, a man was arrested and charged.
The mystery of the fire of twenty buses in Labarthe-sur-Lèze, near Toulouse, is about to be solved. A man was indicted by the gendarmes of the Muret company this Friday, September 2, 2022.
The fire had taken place in the early morning of August 20 in the parking lot of the Aveyron transport company Verbus. Five machines and 20 firefighters were mobilized to try to extinguish the fire. A total of 18 buses were destroyed by the flames.
The arrested man, aged 27, is a bus driver, employee of the Verbus company. According our colleagues from La Dépêche du Midi, he would have confessed during his police custody to have set fire to the coaches. The damage would amount to 3 million euros.
The arsonist would also have been recognized involved in other fires. During his hearing, a specialist in behavioral sciences from the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie intervened. His psychological state was then considered worrying since his personality reveals a real addiction to fire.
At the end of July, a fire had ravaged a hundred electric cars in the same town. For now, there is no evidence of his guilt in this second case.
