Korean air flights resume
Korean Air’s connection between Rome Fiumicino and Seoul resumed on Wednesday with a Boeing 777-200 featuring a new configuration of 36 seats in Business Class and 225 in Economy.
The inauguration took place at Pier E of Leonardo da Vinci where, for the occasion, a photographic exhibition on Korea was also organized, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Institute. In addition to the director of the Institute, Chun Ye Jin, the Korean ambassador to Italy Lee Seong Ho, the president of the Korean community Ryou Kyoung Hoon, the honorary president of FITA (Italian Taekwondo Federation) Park Young Ghil, the general manager of Korean Air Lee Ki Wook and Ivan Bassato, chief aviation officer of Aeroporti di Roma.
“From today we connect Rome and Seoul again with Boeing 777-200s, a 5-star service and excellent safety – said Lee Ki Wook, General Manager of Korean Air – last year was the 30th anniversary of the opening of the flight of Rome.
I am convinced that the resumption of flights will be an important stimulus for the future and we are ready to show it to you.
“We are extremely pleased to celebrate Korean Air’s long-awaited return,” said Ivan Bassato. “The intensification of direct connections with Seoul reaffirms the importance of the Korean market which, not surprisingly, in 2019 had exceeded the record threshold of 430,000 passengers transported. Hoping to see the full recovery of these volumes soon, we are proud that Korean Air, historical partner of Aeroporti di Roma, chooses Fiumicino airport as part of the reconstruction of its international network. A confirmation of our attractiveness thanks to the market potential, no less for the excellence and quality of the services offered by our airport than Fiumicino is the most popular airport in Europe by passengers ”.
initially, the frequency will be three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) departing from Rome Fiumicino at 21.25 and arriving in Seoul at 15.40 the following day. The return from Seoul will be on the same days with departure from Incheon Airport at 13.00 with arrival in Rome on the same day at 19.30.
