The minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office also emphasizes the importance of maintaining the investor-friendly environment that has characterized Hungary in recent years.
Gergely Gulyás reported that the OBO Bettermann group of companies decided on a larger capacity expansion investment, within the framework of which a new surface treatment process is introduced and logistics capacity is also expanded in Bugyin. Based on individual decisions, the Hungarian state provides HUF 3 billion in non-refundable support for the implementation of the government-valued investment of more than HUF 18 billion, which will create 100 new jobs.
At the event celebrating the 110th birthday of the OBO Bettermann family company and the 75th birthday of Ulrich Bettermann, the founder’s grandson and the president of the company, Gergely Gulyás called the Hungarian-German economic cooperation extremely successful.
He recalled that corporate tax burdens are among the lowest in Hungary, the personal income tax is also one of the lowest, and even during the coronavirus crisis, everything was done to prevent unemployment and preserve jobs.
“This will also be the biggest task of the coming months”, he continued, adding that he trusts that similar similar investments will serve to ensure that – jobs are always lost – jobs will be created, and finally, due to the incredibly high energy prices, the value of the reliable workplace and good investment, let there be developments that show a way out in this difficult period.
German investments are therefore crucial in Hungary – he pointed out.
The minister also touched on the fact that the OBO Bettermann company, which is present in more than 60 countries, has the largest production capacity in Hungary, where most of its employees work.
Today, the company provides work and livelihood for more than 1,300 people in Hungary, the combined annual sales of their three companies in Hungary exceeded HUF 50 billion last year, he added.
Among other things, Ulrich Bettermann talks about “we are living in difficult times and we don’t know how our age changes in winter and spring”. He also said that OBO had thought ahead and provided, for example, with Qatari liquefied gas to meet its energy needs.
According to his words, an extremely modern plant has been built in Hungary, and this success story will continue.
Lajos Hernádi, managing director of OBO Bettermann Hungary Kft., spoke about how today the OBO group of companies is an indispensable player in the production and sale of electrical products, and despite the following crises, the development has been unbroken in recent years.
