Warsaw. Unveiling of the plaque commemorating Zbigniew Galperyn’s Association of Polish Insurgents
The plaque commemorating Zbigniew Galperna at the event of the Polish Insurgents was unveiled on Wednesday at Krasiński Square. During the ceremonial opening of the ceremony, we remember a friend, wife and arrival.
As the town hall reminds, Zbigniew Galperyn (1929-2021) fought in the uprising, wounded and, as one of the youngest soldiers of the Home Army, he was awarded the Cross of Valor. After the war, he became an economist, vice-president of the Society of Polish Town Planners. In free Poland, in the Association of Warsaw Insurgents, in 2020 he became the president of the ZPW. He died on September 23 last year.
– Zbyszek graduated after the war. In that, ruined Warsaw, it was necessary to have a strong character, apart from work, Jerzy Mindziukiewicz, vice president of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents, also remembered. – Zbyszek, you will remain in our memory forever – he added.
You have to look at the young
– Zbigniew Galperyn was an active old man. He made us very sensitive to expect young people – such as Wybyła, teenage Powstańcy – the aforementioned instructor of the Warsaw Council, Ewa Malinowska-Grupińska. – I remember how he spoke to young people four years ago about his hope that we would never be threatened by war again. Today is not so important. The more we remember the words of Zbigniew Galperyn today – she added.
In the speech of the hero of the uprising, the president said goodbye to the city’s deputy mayor, Michał Olszewski.
– Mr. Zbigniew fought not only in the Uprising, not only during the Uprising. He fought for the memory of the Warsaw Uprising. What do we understand from this message today? First: a man of Poland, not of power. Even the worst power that is to be done for the country remains forever. Second: that good wins. Sometimes it takes many years. The insurgents expected to win a free Poland in, say, 45 days, and it was 45 years. But a genuine, strong desire for freedom cannot be stifled – I say vice president.
He also pointed out that after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Uprising was created, it was not an ancient page of history, but an up-to-date signpost. – The slogan “no more war” was left under the ruins of Mariupol and other Ukrainian towns and villages. To the insurgents and thanks to the fact that they handed over to us thanks to their – mine, we have no doubts how to proceed when refugees from Ukraine are on Polish railway streets, in the streets of the city. We know what to do – help. It is thanks to people like Zbigniew that the word solidarity has the fullest meaning. It is not only the name of the connection, it is not even just the name of the social movement that took Poland out of communism 30 years ago. It is a timeless contribution, the contribution of Poland to contemporary Europe – summed up President Olszewski.
