The Hungarian left launched an amazing campaign in Brussels to withdraw individual funds
Mrs. Gyurcsány is the most belligerent
The wife of Ferenc Gyurcsány, Klára Dobrev, stands out among those advocating the punishment of Hungary. Already in May 2020, right in the middle of the coronavirus crisis he said that the rules that exclude anti-democratic governments from using EU funds should finally be adopted.
And then in February 2021, he announced that in my speech today, I asked the European Commission to give it to local governments and NGOs instead of such governments.
And in July, he said quite openly that as long as Orbán and his government continue this policy, that is, as long as the Prime Minister of Hungary is called Viktor Orbán, not a penny of EU support will come from the funds that can be distributed by the Orbán government.
Gyurcsányé did not stop after that, and in December 2021 she said that the Hungarian government’s policy of destroying our democratic values will finally have consequences that will really hurt Orbán: if there is no rule of law, there will be no resources. After our discussion with President Macron, we can confidently say that the rule of law mechanism will be introduced under the French presidency.
It is therefore clear that Klára Dobrev worked continuously to ensure that Brussels does not pay the money that is rightfully due to the Hungarian people, just because the Hungarian voters did not support the Gyurcsány party to form the government.
It is also worth recalling that even before his election as a member of the European Parliament, he said that by gathering friends and allies, it is necessary to create the possibility that a significant part of the money bypassed the government, based on the decision of independent bodies, would go directly to municipalities, civil organizations, or, for example, the Hungarian For the Academy of Sciences.
In 2019, he also said that the support received from the European Union in order to curb corruption will not be distributed and supervised by the Hungarian government, but by an independent European institution, writes the Origin.
Katalin Čeh was not bothered by her own corruption
Similar to Gyurcsány Also Katalin Cseh, who was otherwise involved in a very serious corruption case, regularly campaigned for the punishment of the Hungarian people. Even before his election as an EP representative, he said that the right to distribute European funds should be tied to rule of law criteria; which government violates them, the EU will share the money instead. […] the EU currently does not know the criteria for the rule of law for everyone. This shortcoming must be resolved: the government that does not know the conditions for transparent, value-creating money spending should not distribute EU money.
For example, I would not support in any way that Hungarian citizens and entrepreneurs fail to receive EU funds, so we say that the right to distribute money is taken away from problematic governments.
And then at the beginning of 2022, as an EP representative, he openly threatened: We created the mechanism – I know because I, as the only Hungarian EP representative, am also at the negotiating table – to jointly protect our European values within our community, so that we don’t get a hold of new sources oligarchs and those close to the money-hungry government get rich – so let’s use this tool! (…) Let’s not forget: in 46 days, on April 3, there will be elections in Hungary, the stakes of which are clear. If Viktor Orbán remains in government, the Hungarian people and the Hungarian economy will not be able to access the resources they are entitled to.
