New step in the application of the ZFE in Toulouse
Since Thursday, September 1, vehicles with a Crit’air 4 sticker can no longer drive within the perimeter of the ZFE in Toulouse.
Low Emission Zone (ZFE) enforcement is kicking into high gear in the Pink City. Since Thursday, September 1, vehicles with a Crit’air 4 sticker can no longer drive within the perimeter of the Toulouse metropolitan area’s ZFE. It encompasses “a large part of Toulouse inside the ring road, as well as a small part of Colomiers and Tournefeuille, i.e. a perimeter of 72 km2”, according to Toulouse metropolis.
An application in several stages
In order to fight against air pollution, a Low Emission Zone (ZFE) has been in place on the territory of Toulouse since March 1, 2022. It provides for the exclusion of the most polluting vehicles, gradually until 2024. For six months, vehicles displaying a Crit’air 5 sticker no longer have the right to travel in the ZFE.
The next step in the application of the ZFE for the Toulouse metropolitan area is scheduled for January 1, 2023. Here is the schedule for the exclusion of the most polluting vehicles:
– March 1, 2022: Crit’air 5 and unclassified vans, vans, and trucks
– From September 1, 2022: the same Crit’air 4 certified commercial vehicles and trucks
– As of January 1, 2023: all Crit’air 4.5 and unclassified motorized vehicles
– From January 1, 2024: all Crit’air 3 motorized vehicles
A series of derogations from the ZFE in Toulouse
It should be noted that there are a series of derogations from the establishment of the Low Emission Zone. ” Thereby, vehicles of solidarity companies and charities, emergency vehicles, holders of a mobility inclusion card, will be able to access the ZFE. This will also be the case for certain companies, such as food producers who supply markets and shops within the ZFE”, according to Toulouse Métropole.
” The derogations will also concern very specific vehicles that are difficult to replace quickly, such as certain construction vehicles. The Metropolis is finally doing a work of pragmatism, by granting an exemption to vehicles with a “collection” gray card, which drives very little and are present in small numbers”, according to a press release from the community.
