Forward Guingamp. Gobe Gouano, from the Champions League with Monaco to the Guingamp reserve – En Avant Guingamp
National 2. Forward Guingamp
It’s a story like the foot writes hundreds. A precocious striker promised a starry future in 2018, Gobe Gouano has since lost his way. At 21, the native of Ivry-sur-Seine has just signed up with the reserve of En Avant Guingamp, who had put him on trial this summer during the European U21 Tournament in Ploufragan. He did not go unnoticed since he was notably the decisive passer on the first goal of Mehdi Baaloudj, during the final against AS Monaco.
A kid’s dream
AS Monaco, precisely. For him, it all started there. Four years ago, at the age of 17, he initialed his first professional contract for three seasons. A few months later, he came into play in the Champions League against Club Brugge (0-4, November 6, 2018). “It was a dream, especially at Louis II, remembers the Monegasque, whose coach was then a certain Thierry Henry. But that’s over now. It’s all behind me.” Because what followed was much less happy. “After the Champions League, I had to play in the Youth League against Chelsea, pursue the young striker. I am hurt. I was arrested for two months. I returned to the pros the following season, but I wasn’t ready, I was coming back from injury. It was difficult. There followed two visits to Switzerland, to Aarau and Sion. Then the desert.
“He is a striker who has lost his way a bit, recognizes Jean-Baptiste Le Bescond, his new coach. He ticks the cases of the players I have been bringing in for a few years. He is still a little introverted but he has the ability to weigh on the defenses. Either way, he’s got something chosen. It’s up to us to help him find his way. »
Sacrifices now
A major challenge for the Breton club which, as it did with Tristan Muyumba, another former Monegasque, will try to relaunch the career of a player still in the making. “I need to find pleasure and playing time, recognized the person concerned. I want to score goals, to help the team. I also know that there are a lot of sacrifices to be made. This is also why I decided to join the N2. Before Ligue 2, perhaps, one day, for the one who was on the AS Monaco bench during the League Cup semi-final lost to Roudourou, against Jocelyn Gourvennec’s Guingamp. It was three years ago. An eternity, already.
