Climate bonus is coming
The good news first: the climate and anti-inflation bonus that has been announced for weeks will now be paid out to Austrians. Adults receive 500 euros, children 250. People who have entered their data in “FinanzOnline” or receive benefits from the pension insurance institution receive the money directly into their bank account. These people will also receive the bonus in the mail.
For those who do not have an account, the bonus comes in the form of Sodexo vouchers delivered via RSa letter. All this is done automatically, no application is necessary. All information about the climate and anti-inflation bonus can be found here:

New tariffs: Wien Energie and EVN are tightening up prices
Wien Energie, which has made negative headlines in recent days, is – just like EVN – turning the price screw and, as of 1 September, its standard tariffs. As a result, households with an average storm and gas consumption face additional costs of around 2,000 euros per year. However, customers will be switched to a new tariff unless they object. Although it is more expensive than the previous one, it is still relatively cheap given the circumstances. Customers have until the end of September to reject the tariff on their own and look for a new one. You can read more here:

New blood donation criteria
So far, a distinction has been made between heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual people when donating blood – that will be history from Thursday. Gender and sexual orientation Future donations no longer play a role. According to the new regulation, people who have had more than three different sexual contacts within three months are now considered a risk group. Unprotected sex in the immediate run-up to blood donation is also becoming a temporary exclusion criterion. Furthermore, one may not spend after recently cured illnesses and colds, tick bites or stays abroad in tropical and malaria areas.

This year, however, the rules – which caused a lot of discussion – are different again: There are no longer comprehensive PCR tests, instead there are voluntary antigen tests on three days in the first week of school.
