Back to School. Tightened security near schools in Toulouse after terrorist threats
By phone call to the gendarmes of Haute-Garonne, an individual said to be affiliated with Daesh indicated that he wanted to attack children in Toulouse schools. On this back-to-school day, the police are reinforced around the establishments.
The threats were received on the night of Monday August 22 to Tuesday August 23 by the operational center of the Haute-Garonne gendarmerie. An individual, claiming to be Daech, indicated by telephone that he wanted to attack children in schools. According to information from our colleagues at 100% Radiothe online operator would also have been targeted: the author of the call would have claimed to want to “cut off his head, like Samuel Paty” (Editor’s note: Samuel paty, history and geography teacher, was beheaded in October 2020 on leaving college by a terrorist). Another gendarmerie brigade in the Toulouse conurbation would also have been contacted.
The Toulouse radio affirms with a “source close to the file“that these calls are impossible to locate. The telephone number would belong to a resident of the north of Toulouse, quickly cleared of the cause. Indeed, the author of these phone calls would have made use of a “mirror number”. The file was therefore entrusted to the counter-terrorism sub-directorate of the Toulouse judicial police (SDAT).
According to our information, these calls are taken very seriously. The Toulouse judicial police have taken up the case. The departmental directorate of public security (DDSP) tells us by telephone that it has reinforced the security measures around schools today, back to school day.
“Several civil servants check children’s entrances and exits to school on a daily basis. Patrols will also be reinforced“, indicates the DDSP 31. The device could be perpetuated if the author of these threats is not found.
