Unusual. A ten-centimeter spider from Ghana found in a supermarket in Toulouse
The spider measured about ten centimeters. Monday afternoon, the firefighters of Haute-Garonne were called to capture an intrusion into a supermarket, in Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds, near Toulouse.
It was the animal hazard specialist unit that intervened, like the 20 Minutes report. The animal had traveled from Ghana in a parcel of bananas. It was a Babouk spider, nicknamed “banana spider”, which is found in particular in Reunion, Guadeloupe or Guyana. Its bite is not dangerous but can be painful.
