no increase in Toulouse in 2022, an exception
Generally indexed to inflation, the property tax should soar in many municipalities in 2022. In Toulouse, owners should escape it.
Since August 30, the owners have received their property tax notice. The bill is already difficult to digest each year, but it will increase further in certain municipalities in 2022, but not… in Toulouse.
“We have made a commitment to Toulouse residents two years ago: fiscal stability. So we will stand“, said the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, at our microphone on April 1.
A tax generally dependent on inflation
The calculation of the property tax generally depends on inflation. Thus on a national scale, this local tax paid by the owners of real estate should undergo an increase of approximately 2.8%. See many more. It has, for example, increased by 12.6% in Strasbourg, in the Bas-Rhin.
But Jean-Luc Moudenc assured that this would not be the case in Toulouse. The mayor of Toulouse, however, acknowledged that “there may be a revaluation of the bases due to inflation. But that will be decided by the central state,” he said.
According to the UNPI observatory of property taxesbetween 2010 and 2020, this increased by approximately 28.2% in Toulouse, an increase identical to the national average.
