Violent storm near Toulouse: the fall of a power line causes the fire of a house

Wind and storms punctuated the end of the day on Monday August 29, 2022, in Haute-Garonne. Placed on orange alertthe department is facing a turbulent episode: in Labastide-Saint-Sernin, near Toulouse, an entire house is paying the price.
Totally burned by fire
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of 31 was called at 7:37 p.m. for a fire, caused by the fall of a power line during violent storms. 7,000m² of stubble went up in smoke… but not only. Indeed, a house which adjoined the damaged part did not resist the onslaught of the flames: it was totally destroyed.
Fortunately, the owner, 75 years oldescaped unscathed before the fire troopers arrived.
Significant resources deployed
32 firefighters, from Rouffiac, Fronton, Toulouse, Saint-Jory, Grenade and Ramonville, fought against the fire. They were supported by three water lances while the intervention lasted several hours: it was still in progress at 10:33 p.m.
