Oscars 2023: Poland has a candidate! To “IO” by Jerzy Skolimowski
The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. There he received the Jury Prize. “IO” will soon also compete for the Golden Lions in Gdańsk. In the competition for the title of the Polish candidate for the Oscar, he defeated the films “Competition’s Film”, “Illusion”, “Silent Earth”, “Woman on the Roof”, “Broad Peak” and “Fucking Bornholm”.

In Skoowski’s film we see the world from Perspektywy. It appears on a mysterious puzzle. IO, a gray donkey with melancholic places, available on the side of the road of people and the bad, experiences joy and pain. His loss is ruled by, which on the day when he wants to turn into despair and sadness into unexpected bliss. But IO, do not lose your innocence even for a moment.
Jerzy Skolimowski will fight for the Oscar for Poland for the second time. Years before his work, his “11 minutes” was put up for competition. in the cities, it was not possible to achieve nominations.
Poland won an Oscar for the best international (and previously non-English language) film only once. We were given “Ida”.
