Luxembourg: rescuers in competition
Firefighters will be honored in the Grand Duchy in September with the World Rescue Challenge 2022. A competition bringing together 300 rescuers from all over the world.
From September 8 to 11, Luxembourg will host at the National Fire and Rescue Center in Gasperich, the World Rescue Challenge 2022. In total, 72 teams from all over the world, including 7 Luxembourg teams, will compete during these 4 days in 2 distinct disciplines : personal rescue (Rescue Challenge) and road rescue (Trauma Challenge). Firefighters from France, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Austria and New Zealand are expected for this very special competition.
These challenges allow the 300 participants not only to show their qualities in the face of international competition but above all, in the long term, to allow a better price in charge of accident victims. The public is invited to participate in this event at the National Fire and Rescue Center. Admission is free and the site is easily accessible by public transport.
A unique opportunity to discover the daily life of firefighters
The opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7 September in the evening at the Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg. The competitions will start the next day to last 4 days from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It should be noted that on the competition site itself, the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) is organizing the 2e national emergency preparedness day on september 11.
Throughout the day, firefighters from Luxembourg and the Greater Region will present themselves to the general public on a site closed to traffic. A unique opportunity to discover the daily life of firefighters in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Greater Region as a family.
