Undeclared work in Austria is increasing
The high prices in Austria lead to a higher increase in undeclared work, as statistics on opinion research show.
The undeclared work survey, which was conducted among 50,000 households, showed that citizens no longer register more than 90 percent of their additional services.
Pollster Andreas Kreuzer explains that undeclared work is usually profitable for both sides.
“Many are registered as cleaning specialists in a company, the rest they earn black. If they reported all hours worked, they would have to pay more into Social Security. As a result, the tax rate would go up and they don’t want that,” he said.
Because of the rise in prices, private households now have no problem employing someone on the black market.
Experts assume that there will be an increase in undeclared work in the coming weeks and months, especially in the construction industry, but also among cleaning and security personnel.
