Rugby – Supersevens: follow the Section Paloise – Monaco final live
Bad start for the Palois. From the kick-off, Monaco recovers and Demai-Hamecher is shifted to the wing where he only has to finish (5-0, 1st).
Immediate reaction as in the quarter-finals. Barrett accelerates, serves Barka, who tempers well and gives Pinto launched for the unstoppable try (7-5, 2nd)
Monaco is well in place. Barka makes the mistake by sliding down the wing to defend. Sainz-Trapaga, overflowing, can put inside on Mikalcius, who finishes (7-10, 3rd)
What a waste of Attissogbé. The Monegasques have the ball, hold it. But the young rear read well and intercepted. It comes back strong around him. Hood open, the former Montois tries to insist along the line. But he is pushed into touch as support arrives. Shame !

Semi-final: Section Paloise – Baa Baas 12 – 9
Like a good fresh binouze, the Section Paloise is building up pressure at the right time. Already victorious over the Baa Baas in the semi-final over the last week in La Rochelle, the Béarnais seemed to have scores to settle with the colorful shirts. Very concerned from the start, the Yellow and Red one day were marked from the 43rd second.
After two sweeps of the ground, Théo Attissogbé makes his speed speak on the wing (5-0). Pau does not let his opponent breathe and Barrett, on top this Saturday, makes his talent speak. An attempt to overflow quickly, a malicious kick to follow recovered and he can offer a caviar to Attissogbé (12-0, 5th).
The Section dominates but no longer scores. In the second period, Mathias Colombet enters the field. A surprise car, the Aturin, injured in a rib, was announced forfeit. He goes there harshly. Despite a Baa Baas try in the last moments, Pau manages the final dismissal well. And reached his third final in as many Supersevens rounds (victory at Perpignan, defeat at La Rochelle). The Hamlet is standing and applauding his people, even launching the song “Auxarmes” with Béarnaise sauce. Huge !
The final will take place at 7:57 p.m. against Monaco, already opponents for the titles in the last two stages.
Quarter-final: Section Paloise – Perpignan 35-12
We thought we were going back to the same scenario as in the round of 16. A yellow card for Levron (2nd), two penalties conceded. And on the second, a quick game from Perpignan for the first try (0-5). Except that this time, the Paloise Section did not wait to react. Clément Mondinat, still very good, gets rid of a tackle and escapes on dismissal. Pinto and Attissogbé manage the overcrowding well so that Eoghan Barrett, also excellent, makes his legs speak (7-5, 4th).
From then on, the Béarnais no longer loosened the embrace, pushed by a warm atmosphere and a noisy public. In the center of the field, Pinto plays one against one. Tchic, tchac, bang (14-5, 5th). USAP is struggling, Pau unrolled. Offset on the wing, Barrett puts the gas. And farewell Bertha! (21-5, 6th). Just before the break, the Catalans revolt. An action from their 22 meters leads to an acrobatic try in a corner (21-12, 7th). On resumption, Perpi pushes, Pau suffers. It takes a return in extremis in the in-goal to prevent the third achievement usapiste. Then a scraping of Mondinat necessary (10th).
In the last minutes, the Section Paloise finds energy and ideas. Following a penaltouch 5 meters from the opponent’s in-but, Mondinat returns to traffic to fix the defense. The ball goes out quickly and sails quickly towards the wing, where the irretrievable Barrett validates his hat trick (28-12). Another man of the match, Clément Mondinat closes the mark with the siren, after good defensive hunts (35-12).
Round of 16: Section Paloise – Clermont 26 – 12
The flattering score does not really reflect the face of the meeting. Tension, sufficiency? Be that as it may, the Section Paloise struggled to bring a young Clermont team into line. Trailing 0-12 after three minutes, following an uninspired after-contact pass from Tuimaba then a poor kick-off reception, the Béarnais then regained their senses and control of the ball. The loyal winger, star of world rugby sevens, has finally justified his flattering reputation (→ we told you the greatest good things about him here). Clément Mondinat had lit a first wick, extinguished by a hand fault (5th).
But the bigourdan opener insisted. A duo magic trick with Attissogbé and Tuimaba had the way open (7-12, 7th). As soon as the second period resumed, Mondinat was still doing wonders. Flush with the ruck, Barrett escaped (14-12, 8th) and put the locals in front. Finally more aggressive, well helped by the carriers of their luxury water carriers Mathias Colombet and Thomas Carol, they sent Tuimaba to a duel. The Tornado blew hard (21-12), before Mondinat completed the success of Green and White dressed in their yellow and red outfit (26-12).
Negative points however: Josselin Bouhier (shoulder) and Maxime Arrieus (concussion) came out injured and should not be able to continue the event.
