LUXEMBOURG – MeteoLux sketches a first worrying assessment of the summer in Luxembourg. The light rain last night did not help.
As we know, the summer of 2022 is dry in Luxembourg. MeteoLux confirms the historic trend. On Twitter, the Luxembourg Meteorological Institute published the graphs of the precipitation of last night, during which a lent cold front crossed Luxembourg.
But, if a few drops of rain have fallen, “unfortunately, it’s too little, regrets MeteoLux. Who notes that “we are facing the driest summer since 1947”, that is to say since MeteoLux records the climatic values of Luxembourg.
According to a pre-summer report published this week by MeteoLux, only 66.2 liters of rain have so far fallen, “which is drastically lower (around 70%)” than the 1991-2020 average, which is 217 l/m². The famous drought of 1976 is largely beaten. That summer, it had fallen to 99.8 l/m². While June fell 36% less than an average June, July was particularly dry. It only fell 6.8 l/m², 91% less than the average of 72.1 l/m². Since the summer, MeteoLux has counted 22 days of precipitation, compared to 40.2 days for an average summer.
