Diksha collects short even par first round, T-36 in Sweden: Newsdrum
Skafto (Sweden), Aug 27 (PTI) India’s Diksha Dagar fought back from a nightmare start, which included three consecutive bogeys, to card an even-par 69 at Didrikson’s Skaftö Open here.
Dagar was tied for 36th and was the best Indian among the six in the field this week.
Amandeep Drall had two birdies against three bogeys in his 1-over 70 and was T-46th, while Tvesa Malik, struggling with his form, carded a 2-over 71 and was T-58.
Vani Kapoor and Ridhima Dilawari carded 72 each to finish T-76th and need good rounds to make the cut. Neha Tripathi carded 4-over 73.
Dagar, one of the only two Indian women to have tasted success on the Ladies European Tour, hit back on the front nine. Her rally included an eagle on the par-4 seventh hole and birdies on the fifth and eighth as she turned in at 1-under.
She dropped a stroke on the Par-3 12th and parred the rest of the back nine for an even-par round.
Tvesa had an eventful front nine with two double bogeys on the Par-3 fourth and Par-4 eighth but also had birdies on the third and fifth and bogeys on the first and ninth.
On the back nine, she made up some ground with two birdies against no bogeys to finish at 1-over.
While Vani had a double, three bogeys and two birdies, Ridhima had a triple bogey on the Par-5 fifth in addition to two birdies and as many bogeys.
Lisa Pettersson and Elina Nummenpaa used calm conditions in the morning to shoot opening rounds of 6-under 63 each to share the overnight lead after the first 18 holes.
