VIDEO. Toulouse: spectacular images of the evacuation of the squat in a former retirement home
A former retirement home, located in the Lardenne district, had been occupied by several dozen migrants for months. The CRS intervened in numbers this Friday morning to evacuate them.
A human tide quickly poured out between the white gates of the former Les Tourelles retirement home. More than a hundred men, mostly of African descent, carrying suitcases or large bags, rushed out into the street. Some chanted “Lierté!” With raised fists. Others waved middle fingers at the attention of the police.

The building, located in the Lardenne district of Toulouse, was the scene of a major evacuation on Friday August 26 in the morning. Dozens of CRS intervened to dislodge its occupants, following a court decision taken on May 3. “From 6 a.m., we saw the police arrive, they tried to force the door and put us out by force, testifies one of the occupants. We have been there for months. No one takes care of us , it is not normal.”
In the courtyard of this former Ehpad, the tone rose among these migrants, who at first refused to leave the premises. The use of hand gassers finally pushes them to leave. Once outside, some lay on the pavement, momentarily blinded. They were taken care of by the associations present, Médecins du Monde and TEC 31 in particular.
Many of them then stayed on Avenue de Lardenne, which were temporarily closed to traffic, framed by rows of CRS, before gradually leaving the scene.
