Toulouse: a former squatted Ehpad being evacuated by many police officers in the west of the city
Dozens of illegal occupants were evacuated this Friday morning from a retirement home being renovated, between the districts of Lardenne and Cépière, in execution of a court decision.
A large-scale police operation began around 7:15 a.m. this Friday, August 26, on the Vitarelles alley, between the Lardenne and Cépière districts, in the west of Toulouse. The former “Les Tourelles” retirement home, currently being renovated, has been evacuated of its illegal occupants. Many police officers were on site early this morning, accompanied by municipal police units. Teams of doctors from around the world were also present.
This is the execution of a court decision taken in May. Dozens of people were expelled from these premises belonging to the CCAS of the city of Toulouse, before being taken care of by the authorities in the courtyard of the establishment.
This nursing home has been illegally occupied for more than three years by families of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa and unaccompanied minors. In 2018, the pensioners who lived there were transferred elsewhere. The place was to be transformed into a reception center for pregnant women and mothers of young children in great precariousness.
