The ones that go up the most in Portugal
The rise in prices in recent months and data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) show that the rise in recent months is far below inflation. In the second quarter of this year, the average total remuneration per employee increased by 3.1% year-on-year, which means, considering the impact of inflation, a monthly drop of 4.6% in reais. But behind these numbers is a great asymmetry between the various sectors of activity and professions. are the jobs where pay is rising the most? That was the question that Expresso asked recruitment companies and industry associations.
INE data identify that the highest year-on-year growth in average total gross remuneration, in the second quarter (the last for which data are available), took place in the “Electricity, gas, steam, hot and cold water and cold air” sector, with 21.2%. It is certain that this number circumvents an extraordinary factor. The most expressive INE should not be a monthly premium or as large as the holiday month, in May 2022, this month of most marked growth, should not be recognized as the previous year that stood out in terms of remuneration in February. Even so, recruiters and industry associations point out that functions where salary appreciation was visible.
