North of Toulouse, the gendarmes of the Saint-Michel company have a new commander
The Toulouse Saint-Michel company, which is the second most active in France, changes its squadron leader. Since August 1, Commander Thibault Llosa has replaced Louis Boquien.
Sitting in his new office, Squadron Leader Thibault Llosa
recalls his passage on the islands of Saint-Martin-Saint-Barthélemy. Fr
2017, the officer revealed himself at the head of a gendarmerie squadron
mobile when the terrible hurricane Irma devastated everything in its path.
“In twelve hours, we went from the paradise island to chaos”,
he recalls, showing off the photographs still present in his
cellphone.
At 33, the successor to Commander Louis Boquien at the head of the
gendarmerie company Toulouse Saint-Michel is not a novice.
Graduated from the prestigious school of Saint-Cyr in 2008, he then traveled
around the world to hold positions of responsibility. In 2012, at
just 23 years old, Thibault Llosa surveys the equatorial forest
Guyanese, at the head of her intervention platoon, to track down the
miners. He will complete the Harpie mission three times. “An experiment
extraordinary, close to a far-west of modern times, which forces
humility and requires to surpass oneself physically”, confesses this father
of family.
In 2019, after commanding his squadron for four years, he
joined the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition and became
the first chief analyst at the ministerial operational watch center
and alert. “The CMVOA provides, on behalf of eight firms
ministerial, reporting and monitoring of incidents affecting the field
skills of the Ministers concerned”, sums up this native of Hauts-de-Seine.
A rich experience that lasted until 2021, when Squadron Leader Llosa joined the War School. “Schooling lasts a year before settling here, in
Toulouse”.
225 personnel under his command
Arriving at the head of the second most active company in France,
this 30-year-old measures the work to be done. “I’m going to have to
devote all my time and all my energy”, he admits. He will have 225
men and women under his command. Gendarmes divided into five
communities of brigades, a research brigade and a platoon of
monitoring and intervention. The human management of its troops makes
moreover one of its priorities. “I have to make sure that the
the military work in good conditions with objectives
clear. It is also necessary that the deserving are rewarded”, considers
the officer.
He has already started to meet several partners, such as the
firefighters and the police and of course elected officials. “Mayors are first
line in the face of the problems that their constituents may experience. The
information transmitted by them”, analyzes this fan of
rugby. “If my men feel good and the relationship with our
partners are good, we fight more effectively against
delinquency and crime. Not to mention terrorism.
