Adrien Moerman (Monaco): “Being an outsider is good, there is less pressure”
The club’s new recruit, Adrien Moerman (2.02m, 34 years old) answered questions from AS Monaco fans site on his. Here is what he said.
On the possibility of the Roca Team doing better than last year (Betclic Elite finalist, Euroleague quarter-finalist):
I think so. It is a club that has grown very quickly and is doing great things. By following this team, we realize that there is something extraordinary. The leaders have put the means to recruit high-level players, while maintaining a very competitive framework. Cohesion is the most important factor for success. I think with these guys, we all want to go in the same direction. If the mayonnaise sets properly, we’ll do something good.
On the reasons for his choice to join the ASM:
After the back to back I did with Efes in the Euroleague, I wanted to change horizons and set myself a new personal challenge. I had to get out of this comfort zone that I had with the Andalusian. Monaco had very clear ambitions of wanting to go as far as possible in the Euroleague. I feel it’s a very competitive group with a strong character. For me, it was the destination where I had to go. When I come, it’s to win titles, I’m a competitor at heart. I want to give this to the Principality. We have the team to go all the way.
On his goals:
With Efes, I lived a fantastic story, as all players can dream of. I will never forget, it is engraved in me. My ambitions are simple. I want to get titles to Monaco, win the French championship, and do even better in the Euroleague than last year. I will bring my experience, and I also want to prove from a basket point of view on the field. What changes is that here in Monaco for me it’s all new. It’s like back to school. Being an outsider is good, there is less pressure.
