Moon: follow the launch of Artemis I live from the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse
First episode of the return of the missions to the Moon, the departure of Artemis I this Monday, August 29. Visitors to the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse could follow the event live.
It’s the return of the missions to the Moon. This Monday, August 29, at 2:33 p.m. (Paris time), NASA’s giant SLS launcher should take off from the Cape Canaveral launch pad in Florida (a report is possible until 4:33 p.m. and two other dates are also authorized in technical or weather problem).
Fifty years after the last Apollo mission, Artemis I will send an Orion capsule, with a European service module (European Space Agency ESA, Airbus construction), into orbit around the Moon, without an astronaut on board. This “dress rehearsal” before sending Artemis II (4 astronauts around the Moon in 2024) then Artemis III (landing of a crew in 2025) will be commented live at the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse, at from 2 p.m. for visitors to the site, in the presence of Antoine Alouani, system engineer for Orion propulsion at Airbus and Sébastien Barde, deputy director of exploration and manned flights at CNES. The opportunity to understand all the challenges of these missions and to follow the takeoff of the huge SLS launcher (98 meters high, 2600 tons)
