Finally the last heat stroke in Luxembourg?
Meteolux has issued a new heat advisory for Wednesday, which is expected to be extended to Thursday August 25. A new alert that makes the reality of global warming even more concrete.
It has almost become a habit (which we would gladly do without): Meteolux has published a heat warning for the day of Wednesday August 24 and valid between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Last illustration of a decidedly too hot summer.
Up to 34 degrees expected
The first alert concerns this Wednesday with maximum temperatures which should be between 30 and 32 degrees over a large part of Luxembourg. The mercury could even rise to 33 degrees along the Moselle.
Hot and dry weather that will continue and even worsen Thursday August 25 with this time between 32 and 34 degrees expected in the country. Again, a heat warning should be issued by the Luxembourg Meteorological Institute.
As with every heat wave, we can only strongly recommend that you protect yourself as much as possible from the sun by limiting your movements, if possible, and remembering to hydrate yourself regularly.

Very concrete consequences
Far from being trivial, the successive heat waves that punctuated the entire summer of 2022 sometimes had dramatic effects in the Grand Duchy. And the record sunshine in July, added to the rainfall deficit recorded over this period, did not help matters.
Because if the population is suffering, the situation is even more dramatic for the local fauna and flora, suffering in particular from the intense drought that has weakened the waterways those last weeks.
Aware of the situation, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development even qualified these successive episodes of drought as an event ” rare and disturbing, never seen before on some streams “.
Faced with the risk of seeing these drought phenomena multiply, the Minister of the Environment, Joëlle Welfring, recalled in an interview with our colleagues from L’essentiel “ the importance of developing water management plans “. ” For example, we are going to present avenues for cleaning that on sites where “renaturation” is carried out, the water can remain stagnant, in part. The fauna of the rivers can withdraw there and survive in the face of this extreme situation of drought. »
