PSG, AS Monaco and OM on the podium at the end of the season according to CIES / France / SOFOOT.com
What’s the point of playing a new season, to have the same result?
As usual, the CIES football observatory (International Center for Sports Studies) has provided its predictions for the current football season, among 23 European championships. In Ligue 1, the podium would be – like last year – made up of PSG, Monaco and OM. Except that ASM would not concede a goal in the 96e minute of the 38e day this time, and would maintain its second place. Still according to this estimate, OL, Stade Rennes, LOSC and RC Lens would follow this top three, while AJ Auxerre would narrowly escape. On the other hand, it would not pass for Angers, Troyes, Clermont and Ajaccio, who would return to Ligue 2.

In England, CIES recreates the top 7 of last season identically (Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea Tottenham, Arsenal, MU and West Ham, in that order), but sees Southampton drop to the Championship, in addition to Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest. In Spain, Real Madrid would once again be crowned, ahead of Atlético and FC Barcelona. Across the Rhine, Bayern would still win ahead of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, while Hertha Berlin would be relegated and Schalke 04 would go to the play-offs. Finally, in Italy, Inter would get their hands on the Scudetto ahead of their neighbor AC Milan.
Last year, CIES hit the bull’s eye when it saw ASSE in Ligue 2.
