Donatas Motiejunas repeats a season in Monaco
After a few months of negotiations, the Lithuanian pivot Donatas Motiejunas (2.13m, 31 years old) and AS Monaco have reached an extension agreement for the 2022-2023 season.
AS Monaco continues to build its squad. After the formalization of seven arrivals and four extensions, here is a fifth with that of Donatas Motiejunas.
Arrived last summer from China, the Lithuanian pivot has made a place for himself in the Monegasque roster, both in the Euroleague (9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds in 19 minutes) and in Betclic Elite (12.4 points , 4.9 rebounds in 21 minutes). He received to form a duo at post 5 with the American Donta Hall.
The former NBAer is aiming for “a Euroleague Final Four and a French championship title” next season.
“I am delighted and honored to be part of this team for another year. The last season was quite good overall with a magnificent run in the Euroleague and a good championship result even if the outcome of the final was a disappointment in our ranks. There is the feeling that this year, the club is investing and wants to put the means to achieve its objectives, whether for the Euroleague, but also and above all to win the Betclic Elite. Many good players have joined us, but above all, the club’s management has extended a number of us over several years, which allows us to have a team that is more united and more motivated than ever with a stronger team spirit. This reflection led me to think that staying was the best option for me and for the club, ”reacted the interested party to his extension by press release.
