It’s official, Donatas Motiejunas extends for a season at AS Monaco. For the Lithuanian pivot, “the ideal would be a Final 4 and a victory in the league” for the 2022-2023 season.
AS Monaco has formalized the extension of Donatas Motiejunas (2.13m, 31 years old) for the 2022-2023 season. The Lithuanian pivot arrived in August 2021, marking his return to Europe after nine seasons in the NBA and China. Among the players most regularly used by the Roca Team, the 20th pick of the 2011 Draft played 74 games in 2021-2022, for 10.3 points on 57.4% shooting success, 4.5 rebounds and 0, 9 assists in 20 minutes. Complementary to the longest and athletic Donta Hall, who also extended, this pivot strong on the ground and endowed with good fundamentals will therefore continue to bring his offensive panoply, even more highlighted since the arrival of Sasa Obradovic (12.5 points at 67% and 5.9 rebounds in 21 minutes).
On the AS Monaco websiteDonatas Motiejunas shared his expectations for the 2022-2023 season:
“The first season at a club is always tricky… you don’t know what to expect, how the team will play, what the goals will be and how the mayonnaise will take. When I arrived, it was to support the team in its first season in the EuroLeague and playing this competition was an objective in itself. And then we got caught up in the game and the goal turned into an appearance in the finals. To have achieved this was already a great achievement. The workforce was good but this year, the team can only be better when you consider the many quality reinforcements with long-term contracts to show the desire to build a group that performs well over the long term in the EuroLeague and in the championship. As for the objectives, the ideal would be a Final 4 and a victory in the league. We have the weapons to do it and I’m very excited at the idea of starting this season with a group of this quality. »
AS Monaco’s 2022-2023 squad at the moment:
