Beware of future speed cameras in Toulouse
Nine new urban radars have been installed in Toulouse. They are added to the 46 radars already in service in Haute-Garonne.
The speed limit of 50 km/hour in Toulouse, to curb road accidents, has become a real obsession for the public authorities. Nine new speed cameras, in addition to the 46 in service in Haute-Garonne, have been gradually installed in the streets of Toulouse, since December 2021, on generated axes: road from Saint-Simon to Basso Cambo, boulevard Silvio-Trentin to Minimes, boulevard du Maréchal Juin towards the regional council, avenue Pompidou in Jolimont.
Rue Garcia Lorca, towards Fondeyre, stands out a bit. The northern sector is particularly targeted, with two radars on Boulevard d’Atlanta and a Boulevard Netwiller. Billboards are popping up everywhere these days in Toulouse to warn motorists and two-wheelers. For the moment, the radars are in the test phase, and do not issue a ticket, indicates Road Safety. By the end of 2022, some of them will start flashing. Some, because not all will flash. Technology is in the game for distracted motorists: the new radars have taken the form of black boxes about forty centimeters high, fixed at the top of a lamppost. A miniaturized version of turret radars, these nine latest-generation urban radars are capable of flashing speeding vehicles in both directions of traffic.
“The principle is to constantly promote the vigilance of users to respect the speeds authorized on a route”, reassures Road Safety.
