A garage located in Montgiscard (Haute-Garonne) was affected by a fire this Saturday August 20, 2022, around 5 p.m. It was the owner of the premises who alerted the emergency services after noticing that thick smoke was coming from the premises, report The Dispatch. An electrical problem was the cause of the accident.
A fuel tank is pierced under the effect of heat
The garage housed several vintage cars whose value would reach hundreds of thousands of euros, according to the regional daily. The intervention of the firefighters made it possible to limit the damage but three vehicles were destroyed by the flames. The fire did not spread to the house and no injuries were reported.
A tank containing 2,000 liters of fuel oil ruptured due to the heat and the fuel spilled into a ditch. Specialists in chemical risk and depollution therefore intervened to ensure that there was no danger.
