It’s a visible gaping hole, in the city center of toulouse. In this summer of 2022, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians traveling on Boulevard Carnot cannot miss this empty space which allows them to see the city theater as we have never seen.
Started in January 2022, the construction site literally gutted the row of buildings located rue Labeda on one side and Boulevard Carnot the other.
Abandoned buildings
Specifically, two buildings were destroyed opposite the Théâtre de la Cité (ex-TNT). These two buildings were partly disused. They housed several brands, including the restaurant Vintagean establishment with an American-Toulouse atmosphere closed since 2020, and the beauty institute Zenly Yours.
On the boulevard Carnot side, we could find a brand well known to Toulouse residents: Ideal Models, stronghold of model-making and model-making enthusiasts, which definitively closed shop at the end of last October.
A new building
In the heart of Toulouse, a new building will come out of the ground, in place of dilapidated buildings. The new building will be through and will give on one side, on rue Labeda and the theater, and on the other, on boulevard Carnot.
From now on completely virgin, the ground will not remain in the state. Another phase of the project, which will stretch until 2024, will start.
A restaurant, offices
A four-storey building is due to see the light of day under the aegis of the Toulouse real estate company Caso Patrimoine.
On the ground floor, the future building will house a restaurant. With a total surface area of approximately 300 m², it will include a through room of approximately 200 m2 (which will give onto both boulevard Carnot and rue Labeda), but also, in addition, a patio of 95 m². A 100 m2 basement will be dedicated to technology, including the restaurant kitchens.
The three floors of the building will be dedicated to receiving offices (approximately 220 m2 per level). On the roof, i.e. on the fourth floor, an accessible terrace of some 150 m² will also be fitted out. It will not be a rooftop dedicated to catering, but a space made available to office users.
