Yotova: We will not allow Bulgarian history to be reshaped – Bulgaria
“We will not allow Bulgarian history to be reshaped. We will not allow the facts to be distorted, because every fact with which we have lied is a crime against the next generations and a joke with the memory of the heroes. We will not allow the heroes to be divided, because they belong to the people for whom they gave their most precious – their lives”. This is what Vice President Iliana Yotova said this evening in the Petrova Niva area in her speech during the commemorative celebration on the occasion of 119 years since the Ilinden-Preobrazhensky Uprising, BTA reported.
“Tonight I want to lay before you another message
– Bulgaria is a country with a long history, spirituality, culture, battles and does not deserve a policy that does not know this history, does not know the names of the heroes. Such a policy easily betrays national interests. We don’t need them,” Yotova added.
The National Memorial Assembly in the historical area of Petrova Niva is under the honorary patronage of President Rumen Radev.
At the event were the official minister of defense Dimitar Stoyanov, the regional governor of Burgas Maria Neikova, people’s representatives, members of the public, mayors from the region, hundreds of people. Military personnel from the Navy and the National Guard took part in the rituals and in the solemn inspection. For the first time, there was also a re-enactment of moments from the battles during the uprising.
Iliana Yotova was greeted at Petrova level by elderly women
with folk costumes, with which he sang the anthem of the Strandzha mountain “A clear month is always rising”.
