For – too many – many seasons, France suffered from a lack of continuity to crown their champion. Over the past twenty years, there have been ten different winners (ASVEL, Le Mans, Chalon, Limoges, Nanterre, Nancy, Cholet, Strasbourg, Roanne, Pau), supposedly four other finalists must be added (Monaco, Dijon, Orléans, Gravelines), and almost as many different participants in the most renowned European competition, the Euroleague… when the Pro A had at least one representative, which was not always the case. It is not easy to identify with a French championship, which remains one of the best in Europe, but which still struggles to achieve unanimity.
